Consult · Fractional CTO

Someone to make the technical calls.

Part-time and hands-on. Architecture, the first engineering hires, build-versus-buy, and the vendor contract sitting in your inbox.

A glass path splitting into three routes, one glowing violet

Most early companies don't need a full-time CTO yet — they need CTO-level judgement on a handful of decisions that will shape the next two years: what to build first, how to build it, who to hire, and what to say no to. Getting those wrong is expensive. Waiting to make them is worse.

Who calls me

  • Non-technical founders who need someone to own the technical side
  • Companies between technical leaders, or before the first one
  • Teams that are building, but slowly, and can't tell why
  • Founders evaluating agencies, offshore teams, or a big technical purchase
  • Founders with an agency proposal in the inbox and no way to judge it

How I'd work on it

  1. 01

We start with a working session on where you are and where you're stuck: product, team, stack, runway.

  2. 02

Within the first week you get a written technical plan — architecture, build-vs-buy calls, hiring priorities, and the shortest path to the next milestone.

  3. 03

Then We stay engaged: weekly leadership time, async access in between, and hands-on help when something needs to get unblocked (code review, vendor calls, interviews, incident triage).

  4. 04

As you grow, the role shrinks on purpose. We help you hire your full-time technical leader and hand over cleanly.

What you get

  • Technical plan & architecture

A clear, written plan for what to build, in what order, on what stack — and why. Revisited as the business changes.

  • Hiring & team design

Role definitions, the interview loop, the take-home, and the call that closes the candidate. We have hired and run engineering teams before, and we will be on the call that closes the candidate.

  • Decision support

Build vs. buy, vendor and agency evaluation, security and infrastructure choices, AI strategy. Judged on what ships, not on what demos.

  • Hands-on unblocking

When a problem is blocking the company, We don't just advise. We open the editor and fix it.

What it costs, and how it starts

Every engagement starts with a short fixed-scope step, so we both find out what this is like before either of us commits to more. You get the same number anyone with the same scope would get.

  • 01

    Advisory

A few hours a week. Leadership time, decisions, and async access.

  • 02

    Embedded

One to two days a week. Leading the team and shipping alongside it.

  • 03

    Interim

Full-time for a defined period while you hire your permanent leader.

FAQ

Fractional CTO: what people ask

What does a fractional CTO actually do day to day?

Makes the technical decisions a company can't afford to get wrong, keeps the team (or the agency) shipping in the right direction, owns architecture and security posture, and hires the people who will eventually take over. Unlike a pure advisor, We also do hands-on work when that's the fastest way to unblock you.

How is this different from hiring an agency?

An agency's incentive is to sell more hours. Ours is to get you to a point where you don't need us. We'll help you choose and manage an agency when that's the right answer.

Do you work with companies outside the UAE?

Yes. AsyncX is in Dubai and We work async by default, with overlap hours for the Gulf, Europe and US East Coast. Anywhere those hours work is fine.

What's the minimum commitment?

We usually start with a short, fixed-scope technical review (one to two weeks) so both sides can see how it feels before committing to an ongoing arrangement. Ongoing engagements are month to month.

Send us the agency contract before you sign it.

We'll tell you what We'd change and whether you should sign at all. That part is free.
